So it is with MacBook users with discriminating taste. How do you check your Mac notebook’s battery level? Apple provides a little battery status indicator in the OS X Menubar and it works, so no real complaints other than it could look better (it’s that discriminating taste thing).
Enter Battery Monitor. It’s what the Mac’s battery status indicator should look like but doesn’t. It’s free but it’s not merely eye candy.
All the basic information you need from your Mac’s battery is visible with a click. The eye candy displays the current charge and total battery capacity in mAh. If the battery is charging it displays the amount of time left until a full charge, but also shows you how many charge cycles your battery has experienced to date.
The details include remaining capacity, full capacity, designed capacity (sometimes they’re not the same), the battery’s temperature and power usage. Plus, because you’re using Battery Monitor thanks to how good it looks, it comes with extra themes that look great in OS X Yosemite.
All that for free.
