Here’s one that does a bit less, but also costs less. Much less. Less, as in free. It’s called DeTune, and it started life as a way to copy music from your iPod to your Mac, but also works on iPhone, iPad, and Apple’s still available iPod touch.
There’s not much to DeTune. Install the app on your Mac. Plug your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into your Mac. Launch DeTune and copy music files, movies, books, TV shows, and even ringtones– back to your Mac.
When you open DeTune you’ll see the list of files available to be copied.
DeTune uses drag and drop to copy files from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac. Select the files you want to copy, drag them from the DeTune window onto the Mac’s Finder.
Considering that DeTune is a simple app that’s free, there are plenty of useful Preferences. For example, you can change the filename template for song names, movie names, book names, Podcast names, and even TV show names.
DeTune is a good way to backup select files from your iOS devices to your Mac and it’s just difficult to beat the simplicity and price. Not bad for free.
