I have a problem with my Mac’s screen. All the open app windows clutter up the view of Desktop wallpaper images.
Why bother to worry about what image you’ll use as wallpaper for the Desktop if you can’t see it anyway?
Alright, that’s a good question. Hold onto that for a moment. I like Mac apps which have a memorable name, or a descriptive name, and tend to eschew apps with names that don’t make much sense.
So, why do I like uDesktop NEXT? Everything about what it does is what I don’t particularly like. Wallpapers. Crazy name. It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. That’s uDesktop NEXT, the Desktop and background wallpaper collection for Mac (and iPhone and iPad).
First things first. The images are breathtaking examples of quality photography in better than high definition resolution.
How many wallpaper images? Thousands. Many thousands. uDesktop NEXT is more like a photo browser which pulls down thousands of high resolution photos for your Mac, in dozens of subject matter categories.
Images can be sorted by New, Recent, Popular, or searched by using Tags. The browser lets you select a photo and with a click make it the Mac’s Desktop background wallpaper.
What kind of resolution are we talking about? Photos are high resolution for the Retina displays for iPad Air, iPad mini, iPhone, and MacBook Pro models, but many images are also available in 4k and 8k. That’s right. 4k. And 8k resolution. As of today, the Mac doesn’t have 4k resolution capability except in the Mac Pro.
uDesktop NEXT adds approximately 1,000 photos to the collection each week, so you’re bound to find a photo you like at a resolution you prefer for an Apple device you own.
Now, if I could just figure out a way to get rid of some of my Mac’s screen clutter so I could actually view the Desktop wallpaper.
