Until they respond, I guess I’ll have to use MenuMinder, the free Reminders-like app that lives in the Menubar and handles reminders in a rather unique method.
MenuMinder comes with three types of reminders. Alert windows, Email messages, and SMS text messages. What’s unique in MenuMinder, besides doing reminders in the Menubar, is that reminders mostly go to yourself.
Considering MenuMinder’s simplicity of purpose, Preferences abound, including options for keyboard hotkeys, quick reminders, tasks, calendar, and customization options.
Some tasks can be automated, too. For example, you can have MenuMinder open a URL in Safari according to a reminder that you set. Or, it can play a song, open a specific document and make it ready for you, and even launch an application at a set time (good to have your email ready to read).
A list of reminders can be printed out or saved as a PDF. Reminders can repeat, too, on a specific date and time, and a task becomes an alarm to alert you to something that needs to get done.
There’s more than meets the eye in MenuMinder as it’s a very capable Mac app for reminding yourself of things that need to get done. That’s also the downfall. There’s no matching iPhone or iPad version, and we live in a very multi-device digital world these days. The Mac is no longer the center of Apple’s universe, and not even the center for many Mac users.
