I can see where this one would be valuable in news organizations or to satisfy a strange curiosity, but I find it more than a bit morbid. The app in question is called Nekrologger. That’s Nekro as in necro the Greek prefix which means death (as opposed to the American rapper, or Necrophilia, the sexual attraction to a corpse).
Nekrologger checks Wikipedia and pops up Notification Center-like notices on your Mac about public persons, actors, scientists, artists, or architects who have died.
See? I told you.
With Nekrologger installed and running on your Mac you’ll get notifications about the passing of various and sundry notables who otherwise might not make the evening news or the local obituary section of the newspaper.
That’s it. Nekrologger is rather inexpensive and won’t set you back a couple of dollars. I can see a value here if your have a morbid curiosity, or you’re in a news organization that keeps track of such notices, otherwise, I’ve never seen an app quite like this one.
