Beer is out. Wine is in. Somewhere Jesse read that wine is actually good for you and could help prolong your life. I don’t know as though beer has the same impact, but if a life is worth living, isn’t it better lived with refreshing beverages that you need to drink quickly instead of letting them get their own room?
Jesse persisted, though, and I didn’t have a good argument (and that whole separate bedrooms tactic still seems unfair), so here we are with no beer, more different bottles of wine than I thought possible, and a Mac app that manages the whole mess.
Vinoteka is a Mac app that lets you manage your wine cellar. Seriously. Think of iTunes or iPhoto but with wine instead of music or photos.
The app itself is rather straightforward. As with iTunes and iPhoto, Vinoteka contains a library of everything in your wine collection. Wines can be grouped, sorted, stored with more detail than any bottled beverage should have unless scotch or bourbon is in the name.
The onscreen graphics even look like a wine cellar, digital style.
There’s even a Vinoteka touch app for your iPhone which syncs your wine library to your Mac. You’ll be impressed with all the detail, too. It even captures wine tasting notes, for those of you into that kind of thing.
UPDATE: I’ve been duped. Vinoteka also manages bottles of any kind of beverage, including beer.
