Would you like to know in real time?
That’s what PeakHour does. It’s an inexpensive Mac app that monitors your internet router and displays a graph of real-time bandwidth usage, both incoming and outgoing.
All it does is connect to your network router and pull down usage information and display it in a graph. Click the Menubar and the graph pops down.
Configuration is actually straightforward and with only a single gotcha. Have PeakHour check every second or so many seconds. Change the units and smooth the graph with a slider bar.
If your router is enabled for SNMP v1, you’re probably good to go. But it doesn’t support SNMP v2 or v3. And not all routers, whether home network or office network, support SNMP, so check first.
Otherwise, try the NetUse Traffic Monitor for more options.
