Every member of the Mincey family is a throwback to a generation where family activity was measured in the number of crossword puzzles each of us could complete on Sunday morning.
Remember the Sunday morning newspaper and daily crossword puzzles? The family that solves crossword puzzles together is a family that stays together. Well, dear Mac user, here’s a way to create your own crossword puzzles with a fully customizable app called Puzzle Maker.
You haven’t been challenged by a crossword puzzle until you’ve tried to create your own puzzle. It’s not as easy as you think, even with a Mac app that makes the process straightforward. There’s still thinking involved.
Puzzle Maker gives you options to create puzzles, edit puzzles, fonts, and layout (add color; goodbye black and white).
You create the puzzle from the ground up (digitally speaking, of course). Add words and definitions and Puzzle Maker creates the crossword puzzle, but you control the layout.
Puzzles can be exported as images to drop into a website or another document. Or, export to iWork’s Pages and create a whole magazine of your own custom puzzles. And, you can export crossword puzzle designs to the .puz file format to run in other puzzle apps like Red Sweater’s Black Ink.
It also exports a puzzle file to Apple’s iBooks author (the perfectly inexpensive way to create your own crossword puzzle ebook). Puzzle Maker also doubles as a word search maker, which is a handy addition to puzzle making.
Puzzle Maker is loads of fun, but takes you well beyond simply filling in the blanks of a crossword puzzle. This app is for serious users (and has a price tag to match).
