Online or on my Mac, poker is my link to a childhood growing up and losing pennies, then nickels, then dimes and dollars to my father.
I may have lost plenty of allowance money, but I learned how to read a bluff. My Mac has a dozen poker games dating back years and I’ve reviewed more than a few Mac poker apps through the years.
The latest to grace my Mac also came from my iPhone. PokerTH is an internet enable, multiplayer poker game. If you prefer to defeat humans instead of the Mac, this is the game.
Here’s what it looks like.
All the network action is displayed on your Mac’s screen. There’s a built-in chat lobby and player avatars.
Once you set up, login and begin to play, realism sets in. All that’s missing is whiskey glasses and cigar smoke (which I use to intimidate opponents, so I’m at a bit of a disadvantage online).
Online poker these days is graphics heavy, so I’d like to see more variety in the avatars, including a bluff face, and a face that displays the emotion of someone who just lost his digital shirt.
Otherwise, nicely done and free as a bird.
