Have you heard of Oliver Sacks? He’s the neurologist who has written a number of books about his experiences with neurological patients. We know – that sounds like a dry, possibly boring topic. But we’re here to tell you that the books we’ve read have been fascinating, particularly 1985’s The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. You may have seen the Robert De Niro/Robin Williams movie, Awakenings, several years ago. That movie was based on Sacks’s book of the same name.
So why are we telling you about him now? Because he has written an Op-Ed piece in the NYTimes for this New Year’s Day that we think should be required reading for every boomer – bohemian or otherwise.
