But this post is really more about how the public discourse in America just continually seems to sink to new lows. Latest example? Bristol Palin’s eloquent comment about competing on “Dancing With the Stars;” let’s make it our Quote of the Week:
Going out there and winning would mean a lot. It would be like a big middle finger to all the people out there who hate my mom and hate me.”
Well that’s exactly what we want to hear coming from the the mouth of a potential future member of the First Family of the United States, now isn’t it?
And just how does this kind of talk jive with the family’s Christian beliefs? We remember Jesus talking about “turn the other cheek,” and “love thy enemies,” but forgive us if we missed the part about “to thy detractors give thy middle finger.”
Momma Grizzly Palin’s new book is titled, America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag. Well, we’re guessing the “Faith” section refers to her faith that her supporters will continue to give her and her family a pass whenever their words and actions run counter to the teachings of Christianity.
