This November, Fonda is releasing two new fitness DVDs: “Jane Fonda: Prime Time Walkout,” and “Jane Fonda: Prime Time Fit & Strong.” Prime Time, huh? Another boomer euphemism…you don’t dare call them “Senior Workouts.”
Fonda released her first fitness video all the way back in 1982…she rode the wave of the fitness craze in the 80s and 90s, churning out 23 workout videos in all. Her last one was in ’95.
These new videos are “geared to the over 100 million American baby boomers and older who are increasingly focused on health, wellness, vitality and longevity.” And according to Fonda, she’s just the person to lead us to fitness during this stage of life:
I feel I’m at the right stage of life to get back into the Fitness business and pass on all that I’ve learned about being fit over 50.”
Considering the fact that her first workout video sold more than 17 million copies and is still the highest selling fitness video of all time, and considering that boomers are intensely motivated to stay fit, active and youthful…chances are Fonda will be cashing in nicely again.
Btw, did you know that Fonda was actually the first person to coin the term “workout” back in the 80s? Too bad she couldn’t get a royalty on that.
