But guess what? Those of you born in 1946…the very first year of the baby boom generation…the question has finally caught up to ya:
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I’m 64?”
What are you first-wave boomers going to do to mark reaching that musical milestone? Well, if you’re a 64-year-old boomer in Minneapolis-St Paul, you’re gonna party!
When most baby boomers first heard that Beatles song, they shuddered at the thought of being 64. Now the people who have reached that age know well enough to revel in it, as a few hundred of them will do at a soiree Saturday for the Class of 1964 from more than a dozen Twin Cities high schools.
Way to go Twin Cities boomers! Organizers expect up to 500 boomers to show up to dance the night away at a local Knights of Columbus Hall, the site of many of their sock hops back in the day.
Hmmm, maybe Paul McCartney should rethink his song…or at least add some new lyrics:
Will you still party, will you still watusi, when you’re 64?”
