The movies have provided us with some of the sexiest – and most surprising – settings for seduction.
Here are our top five romantic rendezvous on film:
Okay, this is way too obvious, but that’s exactly the reason we have to mention it here. As Bogey said, “We’ll always have Paris.” Just a walk in the City of Light can be an incredibly sensual experience, as you’ll see in this scene from the 1981 French film Diva:
2. Over a game of chess
Now you could get down and dirty and play “strip chess” like Hugh Grant did in Two Week’s Notice. But we’re talking about something a bit more subtle. You can cut the sexual tension with a knife in this famous scene with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway in the original The Thomas Crown Affair from 1968:
3. The top of the Empire State Building
Another obvious choice, but how can you argue with a place that plays such an important part in two hit romantic movies. Our favorite? Well, Affair to Remember is a tear-jerker, but it’s 1993’s Sleepless in Seattle that really tugs the heartstrings:
4. The “L” Train (or Subway, Metro, Underground – you get the idea)
Now you better be careful trying to imitate this steamy scene from the 1983 flick Risky Business. Sex on public transportation can get you arrested. If you do attempt it, be sure to bring along your iPod and external speakers to play Tangerine Dream’s hypnotic soundtrack (wait for it…it’s after the overused Phil Collins tune):
5. A barn
For our money, this is the most romantic movie of the 80s…even though Witness is really a crime drama. But c’mon now! Name one movie scene more tender than this:
We admit that a good barn is hard to find these days. But, if you’re lucky enough to have a farming relative who wouldn’t mind letting you use theirs for the afternoon, take a picnic basket, a good bottle of wine, go up in the loft and make some hay!
