Summer is just around the corner, and that means some of the best bohemian boomer bands are packing up the tour bus and hitting the road. An impressive number of acts are heading out on tour, so chances are good your favorite band is coming to a venue near you.
Let’s take a look at some of the classic rockers, new wavers, alternative, heavy metal and hair bands who will be taking the stage for Summer 2010 concert dates. Just click the band’s name to link to their tour dates. To make it easy to find your fave, we’ve listed them by music genre:
Hair bands (at least they had hair in the 80s):
Performers this bohemian boomer would walk across hot coals to see this summer:
U2 – Bono seems more interested in saving the world than making great music these days (not that there’s anything wrong with that), but this 360º tour shows the guys still know how to put on a great show.
Pat Benatar – The woman still has some of the best pipes in rock’n’roll; she can “hit me with her best shot” anytime, anyplace!
Spinal Tap – Don’t tell me they’re not real, man…I believe in the boys dubbed “England’s Loudest Band.” Unfortunately you have to cross the pond for their “One Night Only World Tour.” But tix for London’s Wembley Arena are still available.
Bands this bohemian boomer wouldn’t walk across the street to see, but our editor says that’s just my opinion and she’s making me list them anyway (but she can’t stop me from saying what I really think):
The Eagles – If I never hear “Hotel California” again in this lifetime, that will be A-OK with me!
AC/DC – Angus, you’re 55 years old – put on some pants! (Yes, I know bohemian boomers never act their age, but I thought his schoolboy outfits were dumb in the 70s)
REO Speedwagon – Is is just me, or did Kevin Cronin always look more like a guy in your high school AV club than a rock star? And now he looks like somebody’s grandmother!
So there you have it, bohemians! Grab the old lady, pack up the VW bus and head out on the highway.
But remember your air mattress…sleeping on the floor of the van isn’t as easy as it used to be.
