An Easy Way To Post Photos And Videos Online On A Mac

PosterIt didn’t take long for digital cameras to dominate the world of film photography. We last bought film about six or eight years ago.

Printing photos? That’s becoming a thing of the past, too. Printing requires ink. Ink requires money. Sending digital photos via email or posting online to Flickr or Facebook requires a click.

Nearly every Mac or iPhone app that does anything with photos also makes it easy to share. Here’s a posting app that is good, worthy of support (commercial), but missing a feature or two.

Posting Photos Phor Phriends Plus Phun

Poster is an interesting Mac app whose only purpose in life is to post photos online. Fortunately, Poster uses the most popular online sites. Flickr. Facebook. SmugMug. Setup an account and choose the one to use with a photo.

Poster Accounts

Poster provides enhancements to uploading to each online service.

For Flickr, you can upload photos and videos, create and choose sets and groups, even tag and moderate. For Facebook, Poster posts to your profile and other pages you may administer. For SmugMug, Poster lets you create galleries, choose galleries to use.

Poster on Flickr

All of this is worthwhile because it’s unlikely you’ll have another app on your Mac that uploads photos or videos to SmugMug, Flickr, and Facebook.

Other photo options include resizing and rotating, but no other enhancements to the photos. Poster has plugins for iPhoto and Aperture to make it easier to stay within each app when selecting and uploading photos.

So, why bother with Poster at all? It’s worthy if you upload to those three online services, but nearly every photo app does Flickr or Facebook or email (which Poster doesn’t do).

I want to like Poster because the idea of an app that uploads photos and videos to major online services sounds useful. But this only has three and no email.

Hello and thanks for this note.
I want to recommend another cool app for posting stuff on social sites.
It’s freeware and called clickto, available for mac and pc.
The idea behind that little tool is to expand the copy-paste action. After copying anthing anywhere clickto will show up some little buttons called satellites. These satellites will give some possibilities for the user where the copied content can be posted/pasted.
So take a picture, copy it and select flickr (you have to enter your login data once) and clickto will do the rest and upload it on your account.
